Mahalaya 2025

Mahalaya is the beginning of Devi-Paksha and ending of Pitripaksha and it is observed 7days before Durgapuja. It is actually the invitation to mother Goddess to begin her journey from Kailash to Earth along with her children Laxmi, Saraswati, Karthik, and Ganesh.
It is believed that Mahisasur ,the demon had captured the heaven and dethroned all Gods, so all the gods assembled and with their united power they created Mother Goddess and she defeated Mahisasur. This is the story that is picturised in Mahalaya.
