Vernal Pool Party 2026

From salamanders to frogs to fairy shrimp, there's no shortage of facsinating creatures to discover during salamander migration! We will be using headlamps, dipnets, and plastic bins for temporary handling of macroinvertebrates (like odonate nymphs and fairy shrimp). Guests are encouraged to bring boots, waders, and flashlights if possible.

Salamanders move the best during rainy nights, so please wear your rain jackets - the program will go on rain or moon-shine!

We will meet in the Van Curler parking lot at 6393 W Joy Rd., Dexter, MI. There will be a hike out to the vernal pool; please consider brining water!
