Community Peace Circles
Peacemaking Circles are a tool and process that can be used to solve problems, connect with others, and offer support. Drawing on ancient traditions from indigenous people and contemporary values of democracy and inclusion, circles create opportunities for connection in a complex multicultural society.
First United Methodist Church Des Plaines and SPEAK Des Plaines are hosting a series of Community Building Peace Circles. These circles will provide community members an opportunity to experience a peacemaking circle and practice restorative peace making skills while getting to know their neighbors.
These circles are open to community leaders, young people, seniors, first responders, business owners, teachers, stay at home parents- to anyone who lives or finds themselves in the Des Plaines community!
Circles will be held at 668 Graceland on Saturday from 11am-2pm. Participants in these circles will receive a $25 grocery gift card and refreshments will be provided.
