Poetry will always provide a mood. We provide a stage to help the audience get into that mood. Don't want to read, we need an audience!
We still provide a stage for sharing spoken word and for those to listen to spoken word.
Let's keep the new location growing. Picked Twisted Vine because of it's potential of expanding. October did not disappoint with new poets and new audience.
We have a new home. Twisted Vine Brewery has been a good home to Poetry Unplugged and we hope it will be a good fit for us. The large parking lot behind on 3rd is your best bet. As we wish the event is open to all ages and the location has non-alcoholic beverages. They offer some snack options but you are allowed to bring food.
We hope the move does not venture into the crazy the world seems to hand us daily. The thing that brings me out of the crazy is poetry and spoken word.
Each Slam brings new. New voices, new faces, and that what has kept the Slam going for over 25 years. If you have been to a Slam we would love to see you return, if you have never been we would love to see you give us a chance. Read original spoken word or listen to original word. All are welcome.
The chance to try something new. The chance to practice your craft. The chance to meet a new friend. The chance to rekindle old friendships.
We look forward to hearing your spoken word voices. If you have been we hope you felt it was a welcoming environment full of support. If you have thought of coming please do. New voices are always a joy.
So toss the coin and join us for a once in a lifetime event. You will encounter world class spoken word. Meet a new friend and feel comfortable in a room of creative love.
We will have a Slam and that involves some amazing spoken word artists. So, poets bring 3 original poems. Sign up sheet goes out at 6:30p and we start reading at 7p. All poets read in the first round with 5 judges (high/low scores are dropped). After eliminations we will have a second round (after our feature).
Our prizes consist of used books so we come together for a supportive community not prizes.
All ages are welcome. Twisted Vine Brewing has beverages for all ages with snacks, but food may be brought in.
We have been active on the 3rd Tuesday at 7pm for 24 years and maybe another 24 years. Put it on your calendars.
