About Jeni Grouws:
Jeni Grouws is an American roots musician, songwriter and also cofounder of Avey Grouws Band. Known for her mix of heartfelt lyrics, unforgettable melodies, captivating voice, delicious sense of humor and a deep connection with her audiences, Jeni Grouws delivers performances that are soul-stirring and joyful. Whether fronting a full band or standing solo with an acoustic guitar, Jeni Grouws brings stories to life with a magnetic presence that lingers long after the last note fades.
“It’s been a while since a vocalist gave me the chills. Grouws digs deep and you can’t turn away. She’s a belter with deep rooted soul.” (Martine Ehrenclou/Rock and Blues Muse)
"Jeni Grouws is a remarkably demonstrative vocalist, fully capable of delivering sturdy rockers, blustery blues, or...a tender heartfelt ballad." (Lee Zimmerman/Goldmine)
What began as a personal journey in songwriting evolved into a full time career, beginning with the 2008 release of her solo EP Scenic Route. Since then she's focused on writing for and performing with Avey Grouws Band, with two top ten Billboard Blues charting albums—The Devil May Care (#10) and Tell Tale Heart (#7). Jeni’s songwriting has also gained recognition as well, winning top honors in the 2020 Unsigned Only Songwriting Competition and the 2021 International Songwriting Competition. With Avey Grouws Band, Jeni has played venues and festivals across the country, including the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas (with Keb' Mo', Shemekia Copeland, Danielle Nicole and more), and has shared a stage with legendary artists like Buddy Guy and Walter Trout.
In September 2024, in an effort to expand her songwriting and solo performing, Jeni relocated to Omaha, Nebraska when awarded a songwriting residency at The Music House through the Catalyst Foundation, lead by Jeff Davis, founder of Playing With Fire. The residency has been extended and she will be writing in Omaha until January 2026.
Jeni Grouws is constantly pushing her own boundaries with new sounds, new songs and new styles. With a solo album forth-coming, Jeni continues to tour solo and with Avey Grouws Band. Follow her journey at jenigrouws.com or on social media.
