Good Trouble

Thursday, November 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. we have got a show for you! Des Moines artist Sonia Ashe presents Good Trouble, a mixed media exhibition honoring activists—past and present—who have challenged injustice and inspired change.

She uses tissue paper collage and paint to create energetic portraits that highlight the power, resilience, and beauty of her subjects. Her work centers on women and trans individuals—activists, agitators, and educators—whose voices challenge injustice and advocate for equity, dignity, and sustainability.

Each portrait in Good Trouble has 20% of proceeds donated back to local organizations connected to the work of the activist depicted—such as the Young Women’s Resource Center, Proteus, Supply Hive and the Iowa Trans Mutual Aid Fund.
