Evan Williams - https://strap-originals.com/artists/evanwilliams

Evan Williams is a charismatic 23-year-old singer-songwriter, signed to Peter Doherty’s Strap Originals label. Evan continues to win audiences with the skilfully controlled vulnerability of his intimate solo shows, and wows large venue crowds with the added punch of his full band, featuring Rocco Marche (The Paris Match) on guitar, Sahib Dhinsa (Nick Diver, Wez King) on bass and Albie Lucas (Human Interest) on drums.

Evan grew up on the East Kent coast where he formed his teenage band, Vendettas. His song ‘England’s Streets’, describing some of the highs and lows of life in a seaside town, was championed on BBC Radio London by the legendary Gary Crowley. When The Libertines opened The Albion Rooms, a hotel and recording studio in Margate, Evan managed to get a job working behind the bar and his music quickly caught the attention of its acclaimed owners.

His lockdown anthem and first single ‘When the Shutters Rise Again’ was described by GigSlutz as “a soulful, stunning debut”. This was quickly followed by ‘I’ll Stick Around’, which was chosen by Apple Radio’s Matt Wilkinson as one of his Hidden Gems of 2022. Evan’s other releases include ‘The Doghouse’, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Easier’. The ever-popular crowd pleaser and his biggest single release to date, ‘The Arsonist’, also features on the NBA 2K24 soundtrack.

Evan has supported artists including Peter Doherty, The Libertines and Hak Baker. With his band, Evan played Tim Peaks at Kendal Calling in 2023 and in November 2024, he supported The Libertines at NX Newcastle and three nights at the Albert Hall in Manchester, including a stunning set with his full band. Evan is constantly touring small venues around the country, solo or with the band.

Evan is primed for bigger things and has a guitar case loaded with emotionally charged and poetically spiked songs to prove it. On the guitar or at the piano, he consistently nails stand out tunes and stinging lyrics with sharp stabs of humour that challenge and unsettle us. As a defiant champion of the alternative, Evan’s future might be fixed sparring in the shadows of the underground, but if he’s caught in the searchlights, armed and equipped with his constantly surprising creative talent, he’ll come out fighting and win.

On 11th April 2025 Evan releases his debut album The View from Halfway Down, which was recorded at the Albion Rooms in Margate and produced by Jason Stafford.
A single from the album, the western influenced live banger ‘Ride On’, is released on the 8th January. The video features Evan driving around Margate with assorted friends in Sinclair C5’s. The release date coincides with the 40th anniversary of the launch of the iconic C5, an electrically powered pedal car that was ahead of its time and an important stepping stone in the evolution of electric vehicles.

Of his debut album The View From Halfway Down, Evan Williams says: “It’s a coming of age record. It’s a documentation of my stumbling first steps into adulthood and ponderings on the future. It’s about how it feels to try and make a life for yourself in a crumbling industry and an increasingly uncertain future.”

Jude Forsey - https://linktr.ee/judeforsey

Jude Forsey leans into electronic pop and indie using upbeat vibes with fast paced drums and catchy vocals. Recently released self produced track “It’s all a waste” revolves around Hyper-pop mixed with elements of indie pop.

Blu Syrup - https://linktr.ee/blu_syrup

Blu Syrup are a modern alternative rock band making infectious anthems from Nottingham. A group of music lovers influenced by their favourite bands in pop punk, modern rock, and grunge; they capture crowds with a blend of memorable riffs and melodies, energetic rhythms, and emotionally charged lyrics that resonate between themselves and listeners alike. Having seen recognition live and on radio from bbc introducing since their debut single, their newfound confidence as a collective sees them back on the radar and at full momentum towards their future.

All bands are on a door split so they get a fair share of ticket sales. By supporting these gigs you are genuinely directly supporting bands. Of course as standard, unlike bigger venues neither us nor The Victoria Inn take commission from any merch sales.
