About the event

Understanding Asexuality for Those on the Spectrum
This supportive workshop explores the connections between autism and asexuality, offering education, validation, and tools

About this Event

Understanding Asexuality for Those on the Spectrum is a compassionate and educational class that explores the intersections between autism and asexuality. Many people on the spectrum experience sexuality differently—or may not feel sexual attraction at all—and this space is designed to unpack those experiences without stigma or judgment. Through discussion and accessible resources, participants will learn the basics of asexuality, the wide range of identities within the ace spectrum, and how these experiences often overlap with autistic perspectives.

The class emphasizes self-discovery and validation, offering tools to help participants better understand their own identities or support loved ones who identify as asexual. We’ll explore common myths and misconceptions about both autism and asexuality, challenge harmful stereotypes, and highlight the diversity of experiences within each community. Participants are encouraged to share insights, ask questions, and connect with others navigating similar journeys.

By the end of the session, attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of asexuality and how it relates to life on the spectrum, as well as practical strategies for communication, self-advocacy, and building affirming relationships. Whether you’re questioning your own identity or seeking to support someone you care about, this class provides a thoughtful and inclusive guide to honoring the full spectrum of human experience.

About the Instructor: Fawn O’Breitzman has been a college professor for over 20 years. She specializes in issues of Sex and Gender and presents at conferences all around the country. She has been a social worker, therapist, and a professor. She has been married to a neurodivergent gender queer person for 25 years and understands the need to be concrete and straight-forward when discussing topics of human behavior!
