Children's author Justin Hobbs will be joining us at Fred & June's Books in Denver, NC on Saturday October 11th for a fun story time featuring his two books, which will start at 10:15am! Justin will be in store with us until 11:15am to chat and sign copies of his books!
“Afraid of the Dark” follows EmmaLou, a spunky and imaginative girl who faces her fear of monsters in the dark with a little help from her parents and a lot of courage. She learns that being brave and kind is better than being scary and mean. Ultimately, EmmaLou discovers that being a good person, even to monsters, is the best way to conquer her fears.
"Tiny but Mighty" follows EmmaLou, a small but spirited second-grader, as she navigates the challenges of feeling different due to her size. After a classmate's unkind remark and being excluded during recess, EmmaLou uses her unexpected karate skills during a dodgeball game to surprise everyone, including herself. Through this experience, she learns the importance of self-acceptance, discovers her inner strength, and teaches her classmates that true value lies within, fostering friendship and understanding along the way.
About the author:
Meet Justin! He's basically a superhero in disguise, though his superpowers mostly involve wrangling two brilliant little girls who rule his world. When he's not busy being a dad-extraordinaire (his official job title), he's a tech wizard by day and a storyteller by...well, whenever he can sneak in some writing time! This North Carolina native, straight outta Denver, loves trading pixels for pine trees during camping trips, waves for work emails while boating, and sand for spreadsheets at the beach. He even managed to snag a fancy-pants degree (Summa Cum Laude, no less!) from UNC Greensboro, proving he's got brains AND a knack for adventure. Want to chat? Hit him up at
