Keith Oxman Quartet "Home" Album Release

Keith Oxman has been leading groups in the Denver Jazz scene for 30 years. His groups have been on numerous recordings with guest artists including Curtis Fuller, Charles McPherson, David Liebman and Houston Person.

From the liner notes of "Home":

Recording the music for this album with musicians Derek Banach, Clint Dadian, Bill McRossen, and Todd Reid was a significant experience for me. I am indebted to them for their support and artistic contributions that are beyond category. I am also grateful to my close friend, Tom Burns for his invaluable wisdom, guidance and support. His Capri Records label of over 40 years has been a gem to the jazz community around the world.

A few weeks before the session, Todd Reid introduced me to the composition entitled “Home.” He also suggested using this as the title piece because of the feelings that I had shared with him about having always been grateful for a wonderful home life. Todd’s ideas always have great integrity, and this one in particular resonated with me because my wife Susan has made our home a peaceful and wonderful environment for our son Nathan, daughter Anna, and me. I was also lucky enough to have parents who gave me the best childhood and home life possible. Those memories always warm my heart.

My parents were always supportive of my desires to pursue music and I am forever grateful to them for that. I’m sorry they won’t hear this recording. The first and last pieces were written for them within a day of each other. True Lou was written on November 17, 2020, which would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary. An Extraordinary Rose was composed on November 16, 2020.

This recording is comprised primarily of compositions dedicated to the memory of my parents, as well as my cousin Steve, and significant friends and colleagues who are like family to me. To these people, I give my thanks for helping me find a place to anchor my heart, because a home is more a feeling than a place.
