"According to Army Field Manual FM 3-21.8 The Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad, an Initial Rally Point (IRP) is defined as: A place inside of friendly lines where a unit may assemble and reorganize if it makes enemy contact during departure of friendly lines or before reaching the first en route rally point."
