Big Bootie Boogie

This joyful, body-positive dance class is designed for people of all body types, with a special spotlight on bigger bodies, creating a space where everyone can feel free to move without judgment. Rooted in the rhythms of bachata, a dance that originated in the Dominican Republic, this class is about embracing movement that feels good and honoring the beauty of bodies in motion.

We’ll guide you through a handful of basic steps, turns, and hip movements that capture the playful, sensual flavor of bachata — no experience required. Along the way, you’ll also learn about the history and cultural roots of bachata, connecting each step to the music and tradition that shaped it. The pace is slow, supportive, and adaptable to different bodies and comfort levels, making sure everyone can groove at their own rhythm.

By the end of class, you’ll have a few go-to moves for the dance floor, plus a deeper appreciation for how dance can be both empowering and liberating. Whether you’re thick, curvy, big, small, or somewhere in between, Big Bootie Boogie is all about letting your body lead the way and finding joy in movement, community, and confidence.

About your instructor: Rachel is switch bachatera from the Windy City. Who is known for her gentle connection and musicality. She can’t wait to share the joy of movement with you in a safe and inclusive environment.
