Whitney James, Back at Steve's

Jazz Vocalist Whitney James returns to Steve’s on Friday, August 30th, for an evening of standards and reimagined new standards. She will be joined by a great band with Michael Clement on piano, Kai Wagner on bass, and Rich DeRosa on drums. James studied musical theater and opera before falling in love with the music of Sarah Vaughan and pursuing a career singing and teaching jazz voice. Whitney is a masterful storyteller with a quick wit, warm presence, and deeply emotive, colorful voice. In 2022, Whitney received her master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. James was one of thirteen jazz musicians heralded as “Legends in the Making” and in 2012 was featured on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz: Rising Stars on NPR Radio hosted by Jon Weber. Join us for an evening of pure jazz and pure joy!
