Sky Meadows State Park
11012 Edmonds Lane, Delaplane, United States
Step back in time and explore the rich history of Sky Meadows State Park on a guided walking tour of its historic grounds. This immersive experience takes visitors through the Mount Bleak House, a beautifully preserved 19th-century home, and continues to the wash house, ice cellar, log cabin, and dairy barn. Each building tells its own story of daily life in the Virginia Piedmont, covering topics like enslavement, civil war in the Shenandoah Valley, and 20th-century development.. Along the way, guests will learn about the families who lived and worked here, the architectural details of these structures, and how they reflect the agricultural heritage of the region.
This walking tour will stay local to the Historic Area and be an easy stroll, covering a few tenths of a mile in distance, stopping regularly. It is scheduled to last about an hour. Please note that our historic structures are not ADA accessible. This program is best suited for those comfortable with walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
