Lesson at 7:00 pm, Dancing 7:30-10:00 pm. Please plan to arrive by 6:45 so you can be ready for the lesson.
Cost: $5 for students/seniors/limited income, $10 plus for those who have means to support the dance at a higher level.
Contra dancing is a social American folk dance that is guided by a caller and accompanied by a live folk band. They’re great for physical and mental exercise and are full of friendly dancers. Check out our Facebook page, Delafield/Prairie Hill Contra Dance, for photos and videos of past events.
Dances are the first Saturday of each month, Sept-June, in the Prairie Hill Waldorf School gym located at the back of the school. Continue around to the back of the school to find the parking lot and the gym entrance.
No partner or experience necessary, all ages and abilities are welcome and dances are taught all evening. It’s best to come for the lesson at the beginning if you’re new.
The cost is a sliding scale donation with a suggested range from $5 to $10. These evens are sustained by the community. The hall, caller, and band are the expenses covered by your donations. A small amount is put toward a contingency fund when possible.
Please help us protect this great floor by bringing a pair of clean/dry shoes to change into for the dance. Street shoes should not be used for dancing.
Protect our community by staying home if you don’t feel well for any reason. Everyone will need to sign a waiver and provide contact information at the door.
Bring a water bottle. We have some disposable cups available, and would like to reduce the waste. If you’d like to bring a finger food snack to share during the break, we’ll all appreciate it. Small plates and napkins will be available.
Stay to help us clean up after dancing if you can, many hands make light work.
