Founded in 1858 by Bavarian immigrant Jacob Gundlach, Gundlach Bundschu—affectionately known as “GunBun”—has been family-owned for over 165 years, making it California’s oldest continuously operated family winery. From the early plantings at Rhinefarm to surviving the 1906 earthquake and Prohibition, the family has endured challenges with resilience and a love for the land. Revived in 1969 by fifth-generation Jim Bundschu and carried forward by his son Jeff, the estate has grown into 320 acres of sustainably farmed vineyards, producing expressive wines rooted in history, family, and a warm Sonoma spirit.
