The folks at Creede Musical Arts Collective (CMAC) have organized a tremendously unique experiecne that bridges the worlds of records, poetry, and music.
Stuff I've Been Feeling Lately by Alicia Cook is a poetry book structured like a mixtape, with "Side A" featuring poems on life, love, and trauma, and "Side B" containing blackout poetry remixes of the poems from Side A.
The book, published in 2016, is known for its raw, personal style that deals with themes of addiction, grief, and mental health, and includes a "track list" instead of a table of contents.
Come join us to listen to the poetry, hear the music inspired by the poetry, and listen the songs that inspired the poems.
Local artist Allison Quiller will be moderating a conversation between the poet as well as the composer for a discussion around the themes of art, music, poetry, and mental health.
Alicia Cook is a poet, essayist and activist who will be sharing her poems.
Evan Mack is an American composer and pianist who will be sharing his compositions inspired by the poetry.
Megan Marino is a Mezzo-Soprano opera singer who will be lending her voice to the compositions.
