# **What do you get when you put two accordions together?**
# ***Squeeze II***
The EUP Fine Arts Council has just announced their annual free end of the summer special Music concert. Ron DiSalvio returns to DeTour’s stage on August 31, 2025 at 2:30 at the EUP Fine Arts Center after a 4-year hiatus. This time he has joined forces with a new partner Michael Schaefer to entertain folks of all ages with a pair of dueling accordions; hence the name Squeeze II.
Ron Di Salvio, born in 1946, began accordion lessons at the age of eleven. By fourteen he formed his first trio and played summers in the Italian Catskills in New York. At sixteen, after
hearing Dave Brubeck “Live in Carnegie Hall” he had to play piano.
He has appeared as an International Gilmore Festival Keyboard Artist with his sextet and vocalists and at the Detroit Jazz Festival with his trio. He is a professor of music at Kalamazoo College and Music director at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albion Michigan. Ron is set to retire in December of 2026 after serving as President of
Trojan Heat Treat in Homer for 47 years. He plans on wintering in Conca dei Marini on the Amalfi Coast of Italy continuing his life’s work of composing and music theory. His many musical projects are available on Spotify and YouTube.
Michael Schaefer played piano for 15 years before he sought out his first accordion in 2001. Today, he can play around 200 songs from memory, specializing in Italian, French and tango
music. He recorded an album of original compositions in 2012.
Michael has built a reputation in the Grand rapids area through playing at restaurants and events, partnering with others for a variety of projects, and teaching accordion to students of all ages. He is passionate about sharing the accordion with others.
Squeeze II is sure to please covering the classic Italian and French musette music, jazz, folk, and rip-roaring Polkas. You will hear selections form the “God Father,” Moon Struck,” The
“Pink Panther” “Outlander” “Cinima Paradiso” and much, much more.
Come and sip on an afternoon of freshly squeezed music by Ron and Micheal, Squeeze II
Donations are gratefully accepted by the organizations scholarship fund which has been helping EUP area youth to attend music camps for the past 20 years.
