EMT training is an intensive, hands-on educational program designed to prepare individuals to respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies. The course typically covers a broad range of topics, including patient assessment, airway management, trauma care, cardiac emergencies, and the administration of basic medications. Students learn life-saving skills such as CPR, controlling bleeding, treating shock, and managing respiratory issues. Training combines classroom instruction with practical, real-world experience. Students practice skills in simulated emergency scenarios and often complete clinical rotations in ambulances or emergency rooms under the supervision of experienced professionals.
Throughout the course, strong emphasis is placed on critical thinking, quick decision-making, and effective communication. Training is hosted at the Attawaugan Fire Department. Training starts September 3rd and runs until December 1st. Training will be Monday/Wednesday, 5 to 9 pm, and every other Saturday/Sunday, 8 to 4 pm. The schedule is designed to avoid having to give up every weekend for the course and to ensure students have enough time to study and prepare for class.
156 hours of training, culminating in a written exam and a skills assessment. Upon successful completion, students can take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam, a crucial step toward becoming a licensed EMT. Students MUST maintain a 75 average to be eligible for the NREMT and CT Psychomotor Exam. Overall, EMT training is rigorous, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding, offering the essential foundation for anyone looking to start a career in emergency medical services or healthcare. All sales are final, and full payment is required at the time of registration. No refunds will be issued. Students who miss more than two classes without making them up will be dismissed from the training program. A minimum average of 75% must be maintained throughout the course. Instructors will provide support to students who are struggling; however, it is ultimately the student's responsibility to be prepared for all testing. Registration fee includes textbook, stethoscope, and blood pressure kit, and one attempt at the state psychomotor exam. Students will need to schedule their written exam.
