We're gearing up for a great Halloween parade and carnival! Parade starts at 4pm, with carnival immediately after at the park.
Entries will be judged by grade level. The categories will be: Infants/Toddlers (ages 0-3), Head Start & Pre-K, Kindergarten & 1st, 2nd - 4th , Middle School, High School/Adult, Multi-age Groups (families or groups with several different ages in the group), bicycles, carts/wagons, motorized vehicles/floats. Each category will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner. The parade will proceed in that order, so smaller children will be near the front (after the fire truck and band leads off), while floats will be near the end. The theme of the parade will simply be ‘Halloween’! This leaves it completely up to you and your child how you wish to dress! You do NOT need to contact anyone for approval of your costume.
Beginning at 2:45 pm, parade representatives will have a table set up near Hale’s Funeral Home to pass out numbers. If you wish for your costume to be judged, get a number at the table and give the Boo Crew your name(s). Please remain in your designated area while waiting for the parade to begin, so judging can take place.
Plan on lining up for the parade and getting your number in front of Hale’s Funeral Home by 3:30 pm, with the parade beginning promptly at 4 pm. We will continue up 4th street, turn left down Main, and then children will finish the parade turning NORTH up 2nd street. We don’t have the kids go all the way to 1st Street because we do not want them walking that close to the train tracks. Parade leaders will gather and wait with kids just north of Iron Wolf Coffee. If you have a very young child in the parade, please be near the end waiting for them if possible or (even better - stay and walk with them in the parade!) Floats, however, will continue west to 1st street and can turn either north or south and unload once they are off Main.
Winners will be announced after the parade at the carnival stage in the park, where prizes will be awarded for each category. You may HAND OUT candy if you walk in parade - no throwing candy from floats.
Remember, after the parade, our Halloween Carnival is in the Davis City Park! It is well lit with lots of room! You'll want to make plans to attend, even if it's just to eat! So far we have cookies, whoopies, cake Pops, cinnamon rolls, sweet breads, cheesecake rubs, snack mix, pretzel bites, pulled pork sandwiches, cotton candy, Herbalife teas, iced coffee, tea kits, hot dogs & caramel apples.
For games we have bingo, cake walk, kiddie trains, kerplunk, and room for lots more!
We are just getting started getting people signed up and there is plenty of room at the park.
If you are interested in having a booth or have other questions, contact D’Andra Parsons at 405-203-6270 (text is great) for information. Booths spaces are $25, the rest of the profit is yours to keep! We have ideas if you need them. Businesses and food trucks may be required to get a city permit from city hall, but churches, nonprofits, and schools are exempt. It's a great way to raise funds for your booster clubs, youth groups, etc.
Sponsorships are available at $25 Bronze, $50 Silver, $100 Gold, and $100+ Platinum levels. All three levels will be printed on a parade banner to be displayed at carnival. $50 and up sponsors will be shared on the event social media pages as well, and $100 and up sponsors will also be listed in the newspaper.
