Based on Lizzie Johnson’s acclaimed book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire, the film is inspired by the true events of the 2018 Camp Fire, the deadliest wildfire in California history. McConaughey stars as bus driver Kevin McKay, who—alongside dedicated teacher Mary Ludwig (America Ferrera)—risked everything to save 22 elementary school children as flames closed in on the town of Paradise. The Lost Bus is both a thrilling cinematic experience and a moving tribute to real-life heroism.
