I know the high is 90+ today, but the change of seasons is upon us! Go through your clothes and bring your good condition items to swap.
plus size clothing is often very needed, but rarely donated. Anything we don't take home from the swap will be donated to Bethany Services, which provides an array of services, among them helping teen parents start their families' lives together with the things they need to be successful.
what to bring: plus size clothing, accessories, and shoes. plus size is kind of nebulous thanks to an inconsistent fashion industry, so anything 14ish and up. Purses, shoes, jewelry, **very clean and in immaculate condition intimates**, swimwear, hats, winter gear, cloth menstrual pads, in addition to clothing.
Items that could make a first apartment homey would also be welcome for Bethany's clients - cube storage, wall art, decorations, plants, the kind of stuff you didn't realize was pretty nice to have until your aunt brought it over. Diapers are always welcome.
when and where: Saturday, November 8th at 1pm at the Davenport Eastern library branch meeting room B - don't trust Facebook for directions, they'll send you to the decades closed branch at Annie wittenmeyer.
Who is invited? anyone with plus sized clothing to swap! whether you're refreshing your current wardrobe, or you have contributions from a previous stage of life, bring them and take home something new. Or don't, you're a free being. Please be sure that you will find something. people always message me that they'll bring items but they're sure they won't find anything because they think no one else could possibly wear their size, and almost always, there's plenty for everyone who shows up. we consistently have up to size 32W among the selections. Purses fit everyone, at least take a look.
how it works: we'll lay out our items and take some time to look at what's available. then we'll draw names so everyone gets a fair shot at highly coveted items, and then it's free shopping. by this point, we've made friends and figured out our body double buddies, so we direct each other to try items that we think will work. it's a fast, fun time.
afterwards, you can take back anything that wasn't selected, or it will go to Bethany Services to distribute.
