Over two evenings this hands-on, two-part workshop, participants will learn the ancient process of lost wax casting using wax and recycled aluminium. Ideal for artists, creatives, and curious beginners, this low-tech method is accessible, sustainable, and deeply satisfying.
Over two evenings, you’ll:
✨ Design and sculpt a form in wax
Optional: Create a mould using the investment casting process
🛠️ See your piece transformed into metal
🔧 Learn basic finishing techniques and take home your unique relic-like sculpture

About your facilitator: IΩANNA is a Greek-Australian artist and educator who has taught lost-wax casting workshops locally, nationally, and internationally. Her practice explores transformation and sustainability, often using recycled aluminium to merge natural and mechanical forms. An award-winning sculptor and General Manager of Darwin Visual Arts, she brings both technical skill and creative insight, guiding participants to discover the magic of turning wax into enduring metal forms.
