Infant Elimination Communication (EC) is a gentle, natural approach to understanding and responding to a baby’s cues for urination and bowel movements. Rather than relying solely on nappies, parents learn to observe their baby’s signals—such as facial expressions, sounds, or body movements—and offer opportunities to eliminate in a suitable place, like a potty or toilet. EC can be started from birth and works alongside nappies, making it a flexible and nurturing method that strengthens the parent-baby bond through attentive communication and responsiveness.
The benefits of infant EC extend beyond convenience. Babies often experience less nappy rash and many families report earlier toilet independence and reduced overall expenses for nappies.
EC fosters strong parent-child connection, as it encourages mindfulness, patience, and attentive observation. Parents also gain confidence in interpreting their baby’s non-verbal cues, promoting a sense of empowerment and trust. By embracing EC, families can nurture a more intuitive, respectful approach to their baby’s natural rhythms while supporting comfort, hygiene, and early communication skills.
This is a free community event, refreshments provided, babies and older siblings welcome
