Hello Janes!
We are so excited to announce our next Hoi An Janes meet-up, this time in support of one of our own talented members and to raise awareness for an important wildlife initiative.
Connie Needham is a wildlife educator, animal welfare advocate, and founder of project.wild. In her debut documentary, she explores one of the most pressing issues in monkey tourism: why tourists feed wild monkeys—and why we urgently need to stop. Filmed right here in Son Tra, Monkey Mountain, Danang, Connie provides a different perspective on a species that many of us are already familiar with.
🐒 Why Macaques?
Macaques are some of the most widespread and exploited primates on Earth—yet they remain one of the least understood. Feeding them may seem harmless or even kind, but behind those viral videos and tourist photos lies a much deeper story—one of broken ecosystems, conflict between species, and confused conservation efforts.
The screening will start at 7:30 and will last around 30 minutes, to be followed by a brief Q&A with Connie.
Location- 3 Dragons Sports Bar
This is a free event, but a 100k suggested donation towards macaque conservation will be encouraged and appreciated.
