From MTIShows.com: Disney’s Dare to Dream JR. is a 60-minute musical revue that follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio. As the group sets out to help each other discover their dreams, they work together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire, and make anything possible. Drawing from a century of beloved Disney films, Dare to Dream JR. features songs appearing for the first time ever in a Disney stage musical, including fan-favorites from The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Encanto, and Frozen II. This musical revue is a thrilling mix of contemporary songs, timeless classics, and brand-new medleys that are sure to surprise and delight Disney lovers of all ages. Designed specifically for today’s young performers and full of opportunities for ensembles big and small, Dare to Dream JR. turns a century of Disney magic into a theatrical celebration of music, creativity, and the dreams that live inside us all.
Featured roles and their main songs are listed below and may be performed by any gender. Ensemble members will be placed into multiple scenes throughout the show.
PLAYERS 1 & 2 (Key songs: “Be Our Guest,” “Hakuna Matata/Bare Necessities”): Imagineers who function as the mentors and teachers of the Junior Imagineers, guiding them through their training. They don’t need to be older performers, but they do need to lead with confidence and wisdom. While Player 1 is more of a polished, in-control leader, Player 2 has a light-hearted nature with a sense of humor.
PLAYER 3 (Key songs: “Surface Pressure,” “Go the Distance”): A thoughtful Imagineer-in-Training who doesn’t yet have a concrete dream and worried they’re falling behind their peers. But Player 3 is eager to learn and is a strong singer.
PLAYER 4 (Key songs: “Dig a Little Deeper,” “Nonsense Medley”): A kind and supportive friend who helps Player 3 find their dream. An eternal optimist.
PLAYER 5 (Key songs: “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “When I Am Older”): A confident, boisterous student who lacks patience at first but then learns that it’s okay to slow down and go one step at a time. Player 5 is never mean, but is sometimes clumsy and often funny!
PLAYERS 6 & 7 (Key songs: “Part of Your World/How Far I’ll Go,” “Just Around the Riverbend/Out There”): These two are filled with a sense of adventure and know how to sing confidently and in harmony.
PLAYER 8 (Key songs: “Friend Like Me,” “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”): Plenty of bravado and personality in this Imagineer-in-Training! They also have a softer side and are solid friends with Player 9.
PLAYER 9 (Key song: “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”): Sweet and earnest, maybe of a different age and/or personality type than their buddy Player 8.
PLAYER 10 (Key songs: “Let It Go,” “Dig a Little Deeper”): An introspective person bursting out of their shell who needs a strong belt voice.
PLAYER 11 (Key songs: “Just Around the Riverbend/Out There,” “Try Everything): This player is hopeful and an encouraging cheerleader for the group. Ability to harmonize is a plus.
PLAYERS 12 & 13 (Key song: “Just Around the Riverbend/Out There”): These players also have a sense of adventure and can harmonize with their friends.
PLAYER 14 (Key songs: “Dig a Little Deeper,” “Nonsense Medley”): Silly and a little wild, this player works hard and plays hard. With all the made-up words in the medley, this player is up for a challenge!
PLAYER 15 (Key songs: “Dig a Little Deeper,” “Remember Me”): The last player to be revealed, they present the heartwarming idea that our families share in our dreams, passing hopes and wishes to later generations, so they need to show a lot of heart!
