Or, as the puppet would be heard to put it:
“Any left over will wash out to sea,
and be used to make shells
by the snails of the deep.”

ALEXANDRA GRABARCHUK
Other light refreshments will be served.
RADIO RODIA is about creative impulses,
compost, building codes and reincarnation.
Satire, poetry, masks, puppets, sets and music
resurrect Simon Rodia and Tressa Prisbrey,
folk artists who built backyard structures
out of bottles, broken tiles, shells and garbage.
Attacks by neighbors, authorities and forces of Nature
question youth and age, detractors and aficionados,
process and product, heroism and folly.
All illuminate the mysterious process by which
yesterday’s eyesores (the Eiffel Tower, Rodin’s Balzac,
the Golden Gate Bridge) become today’s monuments.
"Exuberant glee and energy . . .
like what we might get if Mozart came back and gave
a one-man performance of The Marriage of Figaro
by moonlight for a few friends." -— LA Reader
“Proclaims the value of art which is
because it must be, not because it can be sold.”
— Dan Check, Ussachevksy Festival
“Loved this piece. Brilliant visually,
whimsical and amusing. Good dichotomy of issues
concerning creative people who are marginalized
during their lifetimes, but become heroes upon death.”
— Barbara Smith
“More than just giving a performance of his work,
it seems as though Yates has a hidden agenda.”
— Darren Yue
