Summer's ending, which means soon it will be too cold to enjoy the springs and paddling (for those of us that aren't tough enough to get on the water when the temps drop below 70). Let's say goodbye to the paddleboards for another season with a trip to the beautiful 3 Sisters Springs in Crystal River, Florida.
Whether you prefer to enjoy the water standing or sitting, join us for a very leisurely paddle to three hidden gems only accessible by water (currently). This is our first trip to 3 Sisters. If you've been, your expertise is welcome. If you have not, then come explore with us! Our 11 year old will be paddling with us, so this is definitely not going to be a test your limits paddle. A few hours is her max but if you can do longer, you are welcome to go off on your own or form a subgroup.
We'll be driving down Saturday morning, not too early (it's only a 2.5 hour drive) but leaving time to stop off for lunch and/or some sightseeing along the way. We're always suckers for a good roadside attraction or state park. After checking in, we'll use the afternoon to enjoy the hotel pools wth the kiddos. Sunday we will paddle. Lunch will be packed in on our SUPs so we can picnic on the water at the springs. After some swimming and exploring, we'll make our way back to the launch site. Unless we do it on the way down Saturday, we plan to explore Crystal River Preserve State Park by land. Possibly to do some hiking and picnicking.
Since this is hurricane season, we'll monitor the weather forecast and cancel the trip if severe weather is expected. Afternoon showers will be expected regardless, as this is Florida.
The hotel we are staying at is less than $200/nt. It's not the fanciest (3 stars) but it looks clean and the location is close to the launch point.

You will need to provide us with a credit card to secure your spot as this is required by the hotel to guarantee your room (card is not charged until you check in). There are no agency fees or costs with this trip. You will just need to pay your lodging, food, transportation, and entrance/parking fees.
If anyone wants to caravan down there, we can work something out as we get closer.
