The Hackens Boys are a high-energy four-piece group based out of the Shenandoah Valley in western Virginia. Through an eclectic range of influences their sound is rooted in Alternative Country, Post Grunge, Red Dirt, and Rock. With tracks highlighted by pinpoint three-part harmonies and heartfelt melodic storytelling, this unique brand of music lends itself well to a variety of audiences by bridging several genres.
Since their inception in 2005, The Hackens Boys have grown from a camp fire jam session to an award-winning touring act throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The “Hackens” is a sacred landscape located in the mountains of Highland County Virginia where founding members discovered the inspiration embark on a musical journey that has spanned over a decade.
Mike Burris Band
Mike Burris is a singer-songwriter and guitar player based in Charlottesville, VA. Burris describes his music as “country tinged roots rock” with a nod to Texas blues and a good pop hook. His music tends to resonate with fans of John Hiatt, Tom Petty, James McMurtry, and Jason Isbell. Burris plays throughout the Mid-Atlantic region in his 5-piece electric band, a smaller acoustic trio, and as a solo performer.
In his debut album, Goodbye Town, singer-songwriter Mike Burris explores what it means to have lived a full life, replete with sorrows and joys, and to know that some of his best days are still to come. Written over the course of two decades, these reflective songs study familiar themes like difficult love (“Enough of That”) and loss (“Letting You Go”), and they swirl with notions of restlessness (“Dead End Things”) and place (“Familiar Ground” and “Goodbye Town”). But wisdom wins the day on this record, as the album arcs toward feelings of contentment (“Satisfied”) and finding one’s emotional center (“Long Life”).
“I’m thrilled with how this album turned out, and I feel like I’ve made something that can last,” says Burris. “But I also feel like I’m starting a new chapter in my life, one that’s wiser and more open to possibility and beauty, so I’m excited to write new material and see where it takes me.”
