CHILI COOK OFF GUIDELINES

Free to Enter/Free to Taste
• Chili must be completely cooked (no on-site cooking) and presented in a crockpot or other heated device. There will be outlets to plug in your device.
• We do not have requirements for how much to make, but a crockpot full seems to be a sufficient amount for everyone to have a sample.
• Arrive with your chili by 12:20 on the 13th. Judging will begin at approximately 12:45. Judges will include local people in the food industry and local business leaders.
• You will be assigned a number when you arrive, and you will place your container by that number.
• All styles of chili will be judged against each other as there will be no designated categories (ie. Traditional, chicken chili, venison, etc.).
• Categories of judging: color, aroma, consistency/texture, taste, overall flavor.
• The highest total score from the judges will be dubbed the champion.
• Attendees will vote for their favorite and the chili with the most votes will be dubbed the “people’s choice”, runner-up.
• We will provide tasting cups/spoons as well as sides of: cheese, sour cream, chips.
• Winner will be announced following judging. Our goal will be to have judge’s choice and people’s choice winners declared around 2pm.
Grand Prize: $100 Gift Card and name on chili champion plaque
People’s Choice/Runner-up: $50 Gift Card
