Schedule
5:30pm-6:30pm - Cemetery Talk and Tour
Come learn about what natural burial is and how it's done at Creston Cemetery. This burial practice is not only good for the earth, but also the family and friends who get to participate in the ritual.
6:30pm - Film Screening
"The Wizard of Oz" came out in an entirely different time for movies. One reviewer gufawed at its use of "..raw eye-straining technicolor" and its attempt to compete with Disney's "fantasy" and "fairy tales". It wasn't until it made it on TV in the 1950's when the film began to make a lasting impression. Today, the characters' silhouettes and costumes are iconic and the story is still relevant- it speaks towards the myth of America, the hero's journey and finding your own truth and power. However you enjoy this film, come sit and relish in the melodies of the 1939 classic "The Wizard of Oz"!
About the Location
**Creston Cemetery is a historic, natural burial ground. Please be respectful to the existing grave markers and environment. This space is to be enjoyed by both the living and the dead.
**No smoking is allowed on the cemetery property.
**Please park in front of the cemetery, there is ample space on the dirt and off to the side on surrounding areas. We do recommend carpooling or using a rideshare if you've been enjoying the wineries.
**Though there will be light along the pathway to the screening area, the event takes place in a natural burial space and there are no paved roads and the ground can be uneven. The groundskeepers will do their best to fill squirrel holes and even the paths. There is an incline to reach the screening area.
**We recommend bringing a flashlight if you require extra illumination.
