DETAILS: A nice late start today for (mostly) freeway drive down to Cranbourne and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Completed in 2012, the Gardens were transformed from a sand mine and scrub to a botanic garden of international standing. Designed by Victorian landscape architects, T.C.L., the Gardens aims to show visitors the diversity, beauty and functionality of Australian native plants. This is an award-winning, contemporary botanic garden celebrating the beauty and diversity of Australian landscapes and flora and featuring over 100,000 plants from 1,900 plant varieties.
We will remain at the gardens for lunch. We have a small variety of cafes to choose from, or for those who can be bothered lugging it, picnic and barbecue facilities are also available.
BRING: Weather appropriate clothing, and comfortable walking shoes. Option of bringing a picnic or barbecue lunch.
SUITS: All vehicle types.
ROADS: Sealed – Freeway driving, main roads, and some unpaved parking areas.
PETS: Domesticated animals are not allowed into the Gardens, Service animals are permitted.
COST: General admission is free. Some special exhibitions may attract a fee. Food and drinks at your own expense.
