Come along to an Introduction to Foraging Walk and begin your own foraging journey!
Explore the incredible abundance of wild edibles, as we take a walk through Plessey Woods Country Park, nestled on the banks of the River Blyth, foraging for delicious wild edibles as we go.
This workshop will last for around three hours and we will return to the meeting point at the end.
- What to Expect -
🌱We'll look at how to get started with foraging, how to research and identify wild edibles, how to find find them and how you can continue building your knowledge and confidence.
🌱How to forage safely and within the law.
🌱How to act sustainably when out and about.
🌱You will learn how to correctly identify around 12 wild edibles, which can include flowers, fruits, foliage and fungi.
🌱How to use wild food in the kitchen, including tips on how to prepare, store and preserve them and make the most of your harvest.
🌱We'll also look at the medicinal and nutritional benefits of the wild edibles we come across.
This is a more indepth course style event designed for complete beginners or those looking to boost their confidence with wild food foraging.
- What to Bring -
Please dress for the unpredictable British weather, and wear whatever footwear you feel comfortable in.
If the weather has been wet, please expect the paths to be muddy.
Feel free to bring a notepad and pen if you want to take notes along the way.
- Accessibility -
This route is a woodland public park, and while the paths are gravelled, they can be quite steep in places and there are sections where we will need to use steps.
There is a large car park available which is pay and display, with blue badge parking available. There are public toilet facilities available at the visitor's Centre. If you have any accesibilty requirements I ask that you can please get in touch before booking just to make sure that this route is right for you.
