Join us for the local band Firecreek, based on the South end of beautiful Whidbey Island. Firecreek plays music that comes from a rich and diverse foundation of American Roots music.
Drawing from a variety of musical genres, we play music inspired by Rock, Country Rock, Blues, Country, and a little bit of funk to add to the fun. Playing with a lot of energy, we thrive off the enthusiasm coming back to us from our audience.
Meet Firecreek:
Marita Schott (Guitar/Vocals)
Marita is a very talented Singer. Marita sings in a soulful style filled with heart and passion. She loves Country Rock, Rock and Blues. Vocal influences include Bonnie Raitt, Kacey Musgraves,
Tom Petty, and Emmylou Harris among many others. Marita plays rhythm guitar, and percussion instruments. Marita has played with many musicians of the years before moving to Whidbey Island.
Debbie Cantwell (Piano, Mandolin, Viola, Guitar and Vocals)
Debbie has a diverse musical history. In her 20’s she played with “The Thanks” featuring rock and originals, moved on around 2007 to a trio named “High Maintenance” and most recently played with the Roots/Bluegrass Bayview Sound for 8 years. Debbie was featured on KISM radio with Bayview Sound and was also part of the host band for the old-time radio series KWPA radio in Coupeville.
Joel Young (Bass/Guitar/Vocals)
Driving the lower tones in the music by laying down a steady bassline on electric bass. Seattle born, influenced by artists such as the Beatles and Jimmy Hendrix. Joel has been In the Rock
show circuit since the 70’s. Joel is an accomplished singer/Songwriter. His artistry encompassed all guitar and bass styles.
Steve Chance ( Drums)
Steve started playing drums at the very young age of 13. Steve has played in many rock cover bands over the last 20 years. He also has played in a Blues band, Latin Jazz band, two country
bands and to top it off a soul/funk band. Steve is a very solid player, and great band mate.
Herman (Guitar/Bass)
Herman has had a passion for guitar since he was 12 years old. He started playing lead guitar with The Motown Blues as the age of 16 and a long list of many other bands. Herman’s musical
influences are Santana, Stevie Ray Vaugn, and Lonnie Mack. Herman is a great addition to FC.
