Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the script. No preparation is required in advance.
This powerful play tells the true story of Anne Frank and her family as they hide from the Nazis during World War II. We invite all those interested in bringing this moving and timeless story to the stage to join us at auditions.
Character Breakdown
•Anne Frank – Lively, imaginative, and strong-willed; a teenage girl whose diary tells the story. (NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 15)
•Otto Frank – Anne’s father; calm, protective, and compassionate.
•Edith Frank – Anne’s mother; reserved, proper, and deeply caring.
•Margot Frank – Anne’s older sister; quiet, studious, and obedient.
•Mr. Van Daan – A man in hiding with the Franks; practical, irritable, yet caring.
•Mrs. Van Daan – His wife; dramatic, materialistic, and outspoken.
•Peter Van Daan – Their teenage son; shy, awkward, and grows close to Anne. (NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 16)
•Mr. Dussel – A dentist who joins the group in hiding; fussy, difficult, but human.
•Miep Gies – A helper from the outside; kind, resourceful, and brave.
•Mr. Kraler – Another helper; practical, dependable, and protective.
Additional supporting roles – Nazi officers and others.
