Tonight, we honor 10 unforgettable years of the Scandalous Ball, from its birth in Bologna in 2015 to the dazzling nights of Milan.
Over the years, we have witnessed unforgettable guests, fierce victories, and the most outrageous, scandalous themes. We have watched the Italian ballroom scene blossom, rise, and claim its space with pride and power.

Every Scandalous Ball had scandalous themes, taking inspiration from historical moments, characters, artists, and creations that broke boundaries and suggested change. What we ask you tonight is to do the same: feel free to create your look, but it must include a scandalous touch, something different and unexpected that will surprise our jury and audience

The first Scandalous Ball was in Bologna at the Cassero LGBT Center, but the very first ball organized there by BBallroom was the Red Ribbon Ball in 2014 for World AIDS Day.
Red was the main theme, and it’s the color we ask you to mainly include in your look. (A total red look is not required.)
🟪 DESIGNER’S DELIGHT 🏆
For the first time in 2018 we had the Designer’s Delight category!! The theme was the legendary and metamorphic Leigh Bowery.
Be inspired by his magical creations to bring your creative vision to the runway in the form of an outfit. Don’t forget to also bring your project, inspirations, sketches, and fabric samples to present to the jury.

Runway categories of The Scandalous Ball 2021 were inspired by fashion icons and moments. In this 2025 edition, we’ll give you crazy creative ideas taken directly from the fashion and art world to imagine and create your look. Feel free to experiment, and remember: make it fashion.

The Scandalous Ball 2022 asked this for Body, and what people created was very interesting, so here we go again!
Guerrilla Girls – “Do Women Have to Be Naked to Get into the Met. Museum?”
The Guerilla Girls are a group of feminist activist artists, who use facts, humor, and outrageous visuals to expose gender and ethnic bias and corruption in politics, art, film, and pop culture in their artworks. In 1989, they designed this billboard for the Public Art Fund (PAF) in New York, aimed to criticize the museum institutions for under-representing female artists and objectifying women. Like the woman on the billboard hiding her face with a gorilla mask, we ask you for your 10s to make an entrance, gradually revealing your body and face step by step, and make the judges gag!

This year celebrates the anniversary and growth of this Ball and of the whole ballroom community. Remember to always be grateful to those who came before you and opened the way for you.
For this reason, the Beginner categories will revisit last year’s main categories.
The inspiration is not only the theme but also the way important figures of the scene interpreted it. If your parent or close person walked last year, you can reuse their look in their honor — but you must make changes and reinterpret it. The exact same look will not be accepted. Enjoy!
