Entry Submission 🎸
Submissions are open until all band slots are open. Twelve slots are available and will divided into three different shows. Your submission must include all required fields.
Eligible Genres 🎸
Preferred genres include Americana, Blues, Soul, Funk, Indie, Folk, Pop-Rock, and similar styles. Rock the Mic reserves the right to decline entries if a band’s genre falls outside these preferences.
Fan Voting Round 🎸
All eligible entries will be listed in an online voting survey. Fans can vote for their favorite band starting Thursday, August 2, 2018 and ending at 12:00 PM CST on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Voting will take place on the ‘Contests/Surveys’ page at www.texashouseofrock.com.
Live Performance Round 🎸
The top five bands with the most fan votes from each venue will advance to the live battle round, which will take place on Thursday, August 16th at House of Rock in Corpus Christi, TX.
Stage Conduct & Time Limits 🎸
Stage management has final authority over all stage-related activities. Any band that exceeds their time limit or disregards staff directions—especially those related to safety, timing, or conduct—may be disqualified.
Determining the Winner 🎸
The winner of the live battle will be determined solely by audience votes at the event. Each ticket holder will receive one voting ticket. At the end of the show, Rock the Mic representatives, alongside an independent observer, will count the votes. The band with the most votes wins and will perform at Rock the Mic 2025 (performance date/time to be announced).
Performance Setup & Equipment🎸
Band set times and changeover will be determined by House of Rock. Bands are responsible for setup and teardown within the allotted time. A bass rig and five-piece drum kit will be provided. All other equipment must be supplied by the band.
Winner's Prize 🎸
The winning band will receive:
Their song performed on Rock 92/7
An on-air interview with Rock 92/7
$$$ cash prize
A spot on the House of Rock 20 Year Anniversary Party
Availability Commitment
All bands must be fully available and committed to perform on the dates and times specified. Please note that set times are subject to change.
Load-In and Lineup Order
Bands must arrive at least one hour before doors open for load-in. Lineup order will be determined by drawing straws. A representative from each band must be present until votes are counted at the end of the show.
Media, Equipment, and Liability
By participating, bands agree to the use of their name, image, logo, and music in promotional materials related to Rock the Mic without compensation. Bands must provide their own instruments and equipment beyond what is listed. The event is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged gear. Use of pyrotechnics, fog machines, or open flames is strictly prohibited.
Contest Integrity
This competition is designed to be a fun, fair, and safe event. House of Rock and Rock the Mic organizers reserve the right to revise rules or disqualify bands if necessary. Rock the Mic has the final authority in all contest matters.
Promotional Materials
Only official Rock the Mic admat (provided by organizers) may be used for promotion. Custom or altered versions are not permitted. Bands may be asked to submit band photos, logo or other content for promotional use.
