An Afternoon with Larry Little and Joe Zagorski

For Larry Little, it is his character.Pro Football Hall of Famer Larry Little shares the journey of his life in this rich and inspiring narrative. Beginning in Miami, Little followed a road that was humble and often difficult, but which eventually led him to greatness. Through his grit, determination, and passion, Larry Little left his mark on a sport that has helped to shape him into the man that he has become today. Little was a mainstay for the Miami Dolphins' offensive line for the entire decade of the 1970s, as he became a two-time Super Bowl champion.From the Outhouse to the Penthouse traces Little's steps throughout his life, a life filled with inspirational moments and lessons for future generations to absorb.

Joe Zagorski is a U.S. Army veteran, a former schoolteacher, a former park ranger, and aformer sportswriter for two newspapers in Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Pro FootballWriters of America (PFWA) and the Pro Football Researchers Association (PFRA). He has written five previous books, each of which deal with pro football’s past. In 2021, Zagorski won the Pro Football Researchers Association’s Ralph Hay Award for Lifetime Achievement for Pro Football Research and Historiography. In 2023, Zagorski won the PFRA’s Bob Carroll Memorial Writing Award. Zagorski is also a contributing writer for the website Pro Football Journal and the administrator for the Facebook page The NFL in the 1970s. He began that Facebook page several years ago, and it now has well over 40,000 followers. He also wrote a screenplay in 2021 entitled Town Teams. Zagorski was born and raised in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He currently lives in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Larry Little had to trudge up many steep hills in his life, yet he somehow managed to reachthe summit of his profession. The undrafted free agent from Bethune Cookman University began his journey to pro football stardom on the streets of Miami as a youngster. He emerged from Booker T. Washington High School as a raw recruit who would be overlooked by most colleges. Little nevertheless kept improving as an offensive guard. He was offered a free agent contract by the San Diego Chargers upon his college graduation, then a couple of years later, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins. From 1970 until 1981, Little would be regarded as one of the best in his position in pro football history. After his retirement as a player, he went on to become a head coach for two colleges and a pro team in the NFL’s European League. Along the way, he received his greatest honor, that of enshrinement in Pro Football Hall of Fame.
