About the event

ICE MELTING ICE - A Dialogue between Art & Science on Glaciers and Climate Change
Please join us for a exciting encounter between contemporary art and world-class science at the Natural History Museum of Denmark as a warm-up to Culture Night (Kulturnatten) in Copenhagen.

Arts & Globalization and the Italian Cultural Institute in Copenhagen invite you to an inspiring and thought-provoking panel discussion and dialogue that brings together artists, scientists, and the public in a shared reflection on climate change, glaciers, and our relationship with nature.

The event takes place just before Culture Night and marks the UN initiative International Year of Glaciers' Preservation – IYGP.

Through artistic, scientific, and personal perspectives, the panel raises urgent questions – and invites the audience to think along.

🎙 Meet the panelists:
• Minik Rosing - Professor of Geology and Head of Center at Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen (GL/DK)
• Jessie Kleemann – Artist and Writer (GL/DK)
• Stefano Cagol – Artist (IT)
• Massimo Bernardi – Paleontologist and Director of MUSE, Trento (IT)

🎤 Moderator: Rikke Jørgensen, Independent Curator and Founder of Arts & Globalization

Why the ice is melting – and why it matters to all of us:
Glaciers hold 70% of the world's freshwater and play a vital role in regulating the climate, supporting ecosystems, and sustaining the daily lives of millions of people.
Glaciers are melting – faster than ever before.
In 2023, the world witnessed the largest loss of glacier water in over 50 years.
2024 became the hottest year on record.

Now is the time for both action and new ways of thinking.

Join us in a shared reflection on melting ice, the consequences of climate change, and how art and science together can contribute to a sustainable future.

🆓 Free admission – but registration is required. 125 seats available.
