Derico Alves is an accordionist, singer, and songwriter from Brazil’s Northeast, born in Recife, Pernambuco, in 1978. A member of a musical family connected to the legendary Quinteto Violado, Derico is a true guardian of Brazilian popular culture. With over two decades of career, he authentically represents the soul of Pernambucan music, following in the footsteps of great masters like Dominguinhos, Sivuca, and Luiz Gonzaga.
Derico has stood out for his talent, sensitivity, and commitment to preserving and reinventing Northeastern Brazilian music, bringing his art to stages across Brazil and around the world. Throughout his journey, he has performed in more than 20 countries, taking part in festivals, cultural projects, and international tours that celebrate forró pé-de-serra and traditional Brazilian roots music.
