ALTAR OF REMEMBRANCE
The essence of El Día de los Muertos is to remember and honor our ancestors. Therefore, we invite you to bring an object that reminds you of your ancestors or someone dear who has passed, or is no longer in your life. This could be photographs, a keepsake, or anything meaningful to you. Together, we will prepare the altar of remembrance, creating a sacred space filled with our collective memories and intentions.
We also invite you to bring offerings for the altar – fruit, corn/maize, chocolate, cacao, nuts, and flowers (if possible in the colors yellow, purple/black, red, and white).
The ceremonial cacao I share is not just a drink – it's a sacred medicine that has been used for thousands of years in ceremonies to open the heart, speak with loving words, resolve conflicts, and create deeper awareness.
With love and respect, we will drink this beautiful plant medicine and let it guide us.
What can you expect?
Opening & closing of sacred space
A beautiful and heart-opening cacao ceremony
Talking rounds – the opportunity to set intentions & prayers
A deep sound journey with instruments such as drums, flutes, rattles, sound bowls, and rainsticks
A safe, loving, and spiritual space where you can move freely or lie down and receive
The ceremony is guided by Mike Raven from Black Bear Spirit, who has facilitated deep, transformative ceremonies for many years.
PREPARATION
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and avoiding heavy meals this day. We also invite you to fast for about 4 hours before the ceremony starts, as this aids the uptake of the cacao and can deepen the connection/journey.
