Saturday 14th June 10:00 – 13:30 | In English
What is the mind? What is its nature and function? How does it create our world and our experiences? And, most importantly, knowing this, how can we change our mind and thereby change our world and our experiences?
In this workshop, Kadam Tim will explain how Buddha is a mind scientist - who describes perfectly the nature and function of the mind - in a very practical way. This knowledge is missing from the western view of science, but is not incompatible with it.
This knowledge is profoundly useful. Unlike the brain, which is a physical form, the mind is formless. This means that it has no shape, colour or material properties. It is a continuum that perceives, feels, understands and creates meaning. All our joys and sorrows arise within it. Through understanding this, we can begin to see that our suffering doesn’t come from other people, or the outside world, but from painful states of mind such as anger, fear and attachment.
From this perspective, understanding the mind is deeply empowering. It shows that we are not trapped by our current or past conditions, but we can change how we experience our life - simply by changing our mind.
Join us for a morning of guided meditation and wisdom teachings that can transform the way you understand yourself and your world - through Buddha’s science of the mind.
