New Music by Copenhagen Composers
Featuring new compositions by
Anna Bignami // Thomas Cortes // Tom Irvine // Laura Veltri
The newly established BRICO Collective are teaming up with the award-winning Absalon String Quartet to bring you new music by Copenhagen-based composers.
The members of BRICO Collective - Anna Bignami, Thomas Cortes, Tom Irvine and Laura veltri - have each written a new work for string quartet to be premiered in Frihavnskirken, Østerbro on the 26/04/2026.
BRICO's composers met as students on the Rhythmic Composition masters at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. Though they come from predominantly rhythmic backgrounds, all make use of classical instrumentation in their various projects that span pop, folk, electronic, and jazz. For this concert they will instead work with a purely classical ensemble, the Absalon String Quartet, and apply the musical characteristics of their different disciplines in the classical world.
Absalon Quartet are an award-winning string quartet based in Copenhagen. Like BRICO's composers, Absalon's musicians are not from strictly classical backgrounds, with their diverse influences and experience bringing a fresh and exciting energy to the quartet format. They were the winners of the Rued Langgaard competition in 2021, and in 2023 received the Léonie Sonnings Talent Prize in addition to winning P2's Chamber Music Competition.
Entry 100 kr / 75 kr for students - tickets available at the door.
Entrance fee: 100 DKK
Concert starts at 16:00. Doors from 15:00.
