Join the Pinal Geology and Mineral Society on November 19 ai 7pm in Coolidge , Arizona as we welcome Mr. Stan Celestian. Stan has long taught Astronomy, Earth Science, Geology and Physics at Arizona State University and Glendale Community College and was honored as NASA’s first Ambassador to Jupiter and then NASA’s Arizona Ambassador to the Solar System! He and his wife Susan (herself an eduxator) and former Curator of the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum are very active rochounds and have contributed a great deal to the hobby and the collecting community.
Stan will present The Science and Aesthetics of Mineral Oddities that will highlight superb photos from the Celestian collection and from the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles.
Stan is a regular speaker at area clubs and symposia and his presentations are always entertaining, fun, and informative. We are excited to have Stan and Sue (not the famous T. rex’s but equally inspiring!) in house!
Of course, we’ll have the free raffle ticket drawing, silent auction table, and refreshments. We have spiced up some of the displays and will discuss our plan for our December Christmas Potluck—we are putting together quite a night with an earlier start time of 6pm for the December meeting only.
Please join us Wednesday, November 19 and drop by early if you wish—I’ll be here all day. Meeting begins at 7pm.
Thanks!
Dana
