The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N., in partnership with the Heartwood Chapter Texas Master Naturalists and the WG Jones State Forest Education Program offer training classes, pre-approved by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, to achieve Certification as Texas Waters Specialists for adults and high school students in the region!
You can certify as a Texas Waters Specialist after completing just 8 hours of training based on the Texas Waters curriculum guide. Adults 18 and older receive a certificate and an official pin designating you as a certified waters specialist directly from TPWD.
In-person classes held in Jones State Forest Classroom Building, 8:30-11:30am on Saturdays.
These classes are FREE, but space is limited, and registration is required to attend.
If you would like an alternative to the online training program shown on the Texas Parks and Wildlife program, an in-person alternative is available. Classes will be held at the WG Jones Forest Classroom and count towards your 8 hour training requirement. Topics in the classes will include information on watersheds, riparian areas, and water chemistry. The in-person classes will be locally focused with information tailored to the Walker and Montgomery County environment when appropriate.
