Questions for God: God, Why Do You Let Innocent People Suffer

A few years ago, USA Today took a survey of the most popular questions people would like to ask God. Can you guess what those questions were? The top 6 questions were:

#6: 6% would like to know exactly how long they will live. (We all know we will one day die, but who really wants to know when?)

#5: 7% wanted to know if there is intelligent life elsewhere. (A better question might be: Is there intelligent life here?)

#4: 12% had no idea what they would ask God. (No matter what the question, there are always those who will say “Whaaat?”)

#3: 16% wanted to know: “Why do bad things happen?” (This is a very serious question asked down through the ages.)

#2: 19% were anxious to ask: “Will I have life after death?” (At some time or other 100% will ask this question.)

And the #1 question for God was (drum roll please…) 34% wanted to know: “What is my purpose here?”

This Sunday, we will be asking the number 3 question on this list: “God, why do you let innocent people suffer?”
