Following numerous request, the CAMADAR motorcycle maintenance evening is making a return. It is taking place on Wednesday 10 June 2026 from 19:00 - 21:00 at Congleton Fire Station (CW12 1JR)
This event is open to the general public as well as IAM RoadSmart members. The number of attendees will be capped at 30. As such, it will be based on a first come, first served booking arrangement. Attendees MUST have booked in advance (
https://forms.gle/NLF5gQGBqSp4vfTS7) as this is a stipulation of our robust risk assessment for the event.
The purpose of the event is to give attendees who are less confident in undertaking basic motorcycle maintenance the opportunity to build their confidence and skill set. If you have never undertaken these tasks before, then it is an ideal opportunity to develop these skills, through a hands on approach. If you are a "seasoned home mechanic" then it is a chance to refresh those skills.
Head of Motorcycle Section, Scott, will be "donating" his bike for the evening, so members can practice without concern for their own vehicle 🛠️🪛🧰
The evening will include how to:
✅ Change engine oil and filter
✅ Measure and adjust chain slack
✅ Check and change brake pads
✅ Bleed brakes
✅ Repair a puncture using sticky strings and mushroom systems
✅ Other maintenance hints and tips! 💡
The event will be facilitated by our IMI qualified IAM RoadSmart National Observers who are NOT registered mechanics, but rather experienced motorcyclists with years of experience in maintaining their own vehicles and keen to share their knowledge. If you are in any doubt about the mechanical operation/safety of your vehicle, then you should consult an appropriate professional.
