The Muse Jazz Collective presents "Now’s The Time: A Tribute to Charlie Parker".
Join us Sunday September 14 at 7:00 PM for an unforgettable evening of soaring melodies, daring improvisation, and electric energy as the Muse Jazz Collective pays tribute to one of jazz’s most revolutionary voices: Charlie “Bird” Parker.
Emerging in the 1940s, bebop was more than just fast tempos and dizzying chord changes. It was resistance set to rhythm—a bold declaration of artistic independence by Black musicians refusing to be background entertainment in segregated nightclubs. In a world that demanded simplicity and subservience, bebop demanded complexity, mastery, and freedom.
Charlie Parker, along with fellow visionaries like Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and Max Roach, reclaimed jazz as an art form, shifting it from dance music to deep music—music that made you think, listen, and feel.
This tribute concert celebrates the genius and grit of a man who changed the sound of American music forever. Experience the fire and finesse of Bird’s legacy brought to life by some of the Bay Area’s most inspired jazz artists.
