FOLKLORE AND CUSTOMS OF SCOTTISH MILLS

This talk is drawn from Sandra’s research into the rich folklore surrounding Scottish Mills that she did whilst writing her book, 'Bone Deep', and her experience of working at Barry Mill in Angus.

Sandra will talk about her book and the research she undertook and the stories about mills she collected. She will share her yet unpublished knowledge of traditional customs, lore, magical creatures associated with mills and milling and why the miller, and the blacksmith were 'men of power' within their communities and why mills were central to community celebrations.
