**Canadian Keyboardist Mark Calcott Debuts Solo Ray Manzarek Tribute at Prime 7**
*First-of-its-Kind Performance Captures The Doors' Legendary Sound Through Manzarek's Keys*
COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MI – Friday, October 23, Prime 7 Restaurant & Bar will host what appears to be the first solo Ray Manzarek tribute performance, featuring Canadian keyboardist Mark Calcott in an intimate 3-set showcase honoring The Doors' legendary co-founder and musical architect.
Calcott brings years of experience from nationally touring Doors tribute bands throughout the Northern Midwest to this unique solo interpretation focusing entirely on Manzarek's pivotal role in creating The Doors' distinctive sound. "Ray wasn't just the keyboard player – he was the musical foundation," says Calcott. "His organ and piano work drove every song. This show strips away everything else to focus on that essential element, while delivering Jim Morrison lyrics more like Billy Joel might."
The performance, titled "Beyond That Door," will span three carefully programmed sets from 7-10 PM, moving from familiar classics like "Light My Fire" and "Riders on the Storm" to deeper catalog pieces showcasing Manzarek's classical training and jazz influences. The approximately 100-seat venue provides an ideal setting to appreciate the nuances of Manzarek's keyboard artistry – with limited capacity, reservations are strongly recommended.
"Ray combined rock, blues, classical, and jazz in ways no one had done before," notes Calcott. "He created sounds that were both accessible and sophisticated."
The Friday performance serves as a preview for Calcott's collaboration with Detroit-based drummer and band leader Todd Stoney on Saturday, October 24, when the duo will perform as part of their Allentown project – a Billy Joel tribute featuring Calcott as the "piano man."
